For the year that asks to be carried forward — Kynam agarwood pressed into the form of a galloping horse, cold-formed without water or binder, available in three origins.

Three regions, one form. Each of these tablets is shaped into a horse mid-stride — a figure long associated in the Chinese tradition with forward motion, auspicious arrival, and the steady accumulation of fortune. The horse appears on incense and on calligraphy and on coins because it carries the same message wherever it goes: keep moving, keep going, the way ahead is open.

What unites the three origins is the method of making. The agarwood material is pressed under cold high-pressure without water, without binding powder, without adhesive. The tablet holds together by the natural oils within the wood itself. When burned, the fragrance is the material — nothing has been added to lengthen, sweeten, or modify it.

What separates them is the origin, and with it the character of the scent. Three distinct material backgrounds, each with its own history in the wider agarwood tradition.

Hainan Sinking-Grade Kynam — From the southernmost province of China, Hainan is considered one of the great historical sources of fine agarwood. Hainan sinking-grade Kynam is known for a clear, cool, mineral character at first burn, opening into a sweet and quietly mellow finish. The scent shifts with temperature, revealing layered notes as the tablet burns. Cool-toned, contemplative, and clean.

Nha Trang Kynam — From the central coastal region of Vietnam, anciently known as Champa, prized in classical Chinese poetry as the source of the legendary "fragrance of Champa." Nha Trang Kynam offers a balanced profile — cool and crisp at the top, sweet and gently fruity at the heart, long and mellow in the finish. Warm without being heavy. A scholar's choice, used at the desk and in the study for over a thousand years.

Phu Son Red Earth Kynam — From the Phu Son region of Vietnam, where agarwood grows in distinctive red earth that lends the material a particular sweetness. Blended with red-earth Kynam, this tablet opens with a clear minty coolness — reminiscent of fresh mint or wintergreen — then deepens into sweet woody notes that layer through floral, fruit, and honey tones as the burn progresses. The most complex of the three, with the longest evolving aromatic arc.

Each tablet is square with softly rounded corners, formed in a dark, oil-rich body with the horse motif in relief. Hainan and Nha Trang tablets burn approximately 90 minutes; Phu Son Red Earth burns approximately 80 minutes due to the denser pressing. Each origin comes packed in ten pieces per box or jar.

Place on a ceramic or metal incense dish in a still room. The fragrance fills the space without dominating it — this is incense for a desk, an altar, a slow morning, an evening that does not need to be rushed. Three origins lets you choose by character, or build a comparison flight to taste them side by side over the year.

Materials: Kynam agarwood, three origins available — Hainan Sinking-Grade / Nha Trang / Phu Son Red Earth. All cold-pressed without binder or water additive. 10 tablets per box or jar, varies by origin.

Keep in a sealed container away from moisture and strong ambient scents. Do not leave burning incense unattended. Use on a heat-resistant dish. Burn time approximate.

About Agarwood

Agarwood forms when an aquilaria tree responds to injury by producing a dense, resin-saturated heartwood. The rarer the resin, the deeper the fragrance.

Kynam is the highest grade — soft, oily, complex. Its scent shifts from sweet to floral to woody throughout the day.
