For the ritual of slowness — a complete white porcelain incense seal set, where fragrant powder is pressed into pattern and the burning itself becomes a quiet way of keeping time.

The practice of incense sealing, pressing aromatic powder into a carved mold and then burning it slowly along a traced path, is one of the quieter arts of the Chinese incense tradition. It asks nothing faster than the powder burns. It rewards attention given in small, unhurried measures.

This set is made for that practice. The ceramics are white porcelain finished in a plant-ash glaze, a surface that reads soft and luminous in the light, smooth and cool to the touch, with the quiet self-possession of a good tool that knows its own purpose. The three vessels sit together with an easy, considered balance.

The incense burner is round and low, topped with a pierced bronze-toned lattice lid worked in a leaf-and-vine pattern that lets fragrance rise and spread without rushing. Beside it, the powder jar, squat and sealed with a dark hardwood lid, holds whatever aromatic blend you choose to work with.

The taller faceted tool vase keeps the brass instruments upright and ready: a smoothing disc, a pick, a soft brush, and a tamper for pressing the powder firmly into the mold before lighting. The brass seal mold is round and carved with a lotus-form pattern, the shape the powder will take and hold as it burns.

A woven incense mat in soft beige, patterned with a fine floral motif, grounds the arrangement and keeps the work surface clear. The set also includes a small box of incense ash to bed the burner. A separate brass stand is included for resting a single stick.

The set arrives in a fitted gift box with a printed art card and a matching carry bag. Every piece is seated in cut foam so nothing shifts in transit. Aromatic incense powder is not included.

About Agarwood

Agarwood forms when an aquilaria tree responds to injury by producing a dense, resin-saturated heartwood. The rarer the resin, the deeper the fragrance.

Kynam is the highest grade — soft, oily, complex. Its scent shifts from sweet to floral to woody throughout the day.
